Forth session of the Escola de pensament that still combating the apocalyptic narrative. Moderated by Marina Garcés and Albert Lladó, we face the concept of collapse with Eloy Fernández Porta.

Eloy Fernández Porta (Barcelona, 1974) holds a PhD in Humanities from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. He has published eleven books of "mutant criticism, whose ideas are transformed into narrative style and form" (Christine Henseler). In this collection have appeared Afterpop, Homo Sampler, €RO$ (Anagrama Essay Award), Emociónese así (City of Barcelona Award), En la confidencia and, in Catalan, L'art de fer-ne un gra massa. A pioneer in the expanded modes of theory, he has translated his texts into spoken word to the groups Afterpop Fernández & Fernández (with Agustín Fernández Mallo) and Mainstream (with Jose Roselló) and has performed the theatrical monologue Granito del Nuevo Mundo. His essays have been adapted to the comic (by Carlos Maiques and Marcos Prior) and video creation (by Carles Congost and Natxo Medina). It has been translated into English, French and Portuguese. His most recent books have been the essay Las aventuras de Genitalia y Normativa and the critical self-portrait Los brotes negros. He has also curated exhibitions such as Narcohumanismo, with Núria Gómez Gabriel (Bòlit, 2022).

Kidnapped by the stories that only know how to announce the end of the world, the idea of the future has been collapsed by a present that only knows how to relate to it from despondency, discouragement or, even worse, indifference. Joy, we know, is still a disobedient act and, once the traps of an empty happiness have been detected, the ability to play continues to be an incorruptible tool of creation and criticism, of the scene and of thought. The Escola de pensament invites us, then, to wake up in the links from the gesture and the word, as spaces of commitment and attempt.
