Description
Shakespeare’s historical dramas talk about power. They discover how, deep down, a system of power is a fiction that aspires to perpetuate itself through violence. Henry IV is probably one of the pieces that best explain it. This time, its author confronts this system with an irreducible and brilliant antisystem, willing to unmask it: Falstaff. He is one of the best characters in the Shakespearean universe.
Director David Selvas ddresses one of Shakespeare’s great historical dramas, rarely performed on our stages in its entirety. It is a contemporary look at the social and political mechanisms that constitute us as a collective.
Sir John Falstaff invites us to a queer, insurrectional and subversive party in the 21st century.
