La trobada amb l’altre: més enllà del mur, la guerra o el diàleg

We live in bubbles. We may think that our living space is round and protected. But we are criss-crossed by borders. Those that we see and wound bodies to death, and also those that take the form of an unattainable lease, an incomprehensible cultural code, violent gender behaviour, polarisation or confirmation bias.

Where is the other, then? Does it make sense to look for the other when we find it so difficult to become strangers ourselves? Strangeness is the condition of the encounter. There is no "between" that is not a deformation, a transformation, a loss. Where do we find these "in-betweens" today, when the skin of the bubbles that protect and envelop us become increasingly hard, sharp and opaque?

Ahmed Ghazali (Casablanca, 1964) is a playwright and author, among other plays, of Timbuktu, 52 days on a camel (Icaria, 2005) and Le mouton te la Baleine (theatralis, Paris, 2001), and co-founder of the Jiwar Association, the International Residence for Researchers in Urban Creativity.
