La Ruta 40, Xavier Bobés and Pau Matas join forces in a show for children aged five and older. Shall we build a world of wood?

Third ADETCA - Catalunya Teatre award in 2020 in the Unique Artistic Project category.

Tumbalafusta is a piece of family theatre that combines text theatre, object theatre and music. Wood is the main element of this show, in which two pairs of hands move pieces through space and make landscapes, stories, games, questions, images, numbers and words all appear on an imaginative journey during which the performers and spectators share questions about how the world around us works, accompanying the constant process of discovery that growing up is.

A box made of wood silently awaits its fate.
Two pairs of hands begin to move the pieces around the space.
And landscapes are built that are house, neighbourhood, village, city…
And these four hands and two heads playing transforms everything.
Stories emerge from pieces of wood that become a house.
Sounds that are music emerge from the neighbourhood.
And we hear the voices of many children in the city.
And we wonder what we’re doing there.
And we discover how everything around us works.
And we learn.
Numbers, words, images.
And we gradually grow up until we’re big.
Very big.
And we wonder about lots of things until finally we reach the origin of everything:
The tree of life.
