Description

The anarchist collective FC Bergman, one of the formations of the recent European scene, is opening the season with a story inspired by Noah’s Ark. A visual piece on what it means to live in society. It is a show where theater Antwerp Toneelhuis’ imprint is clear.

Six humble cottages form a settlement in a forest clearing. At first we only see them on the outside, but when a live camera crew appears the action is transmitted to the public through a screen. The viewer, willing to be carried away by the stream of images, will thus become a kind of voyeur of the intimacy of the characters: isolated fragments of life, surreal, peculiar and humorous, ranging from the mundane to the intimate, from the sinister to the absurd. A symphony of symbolic and disturbing images that mobilizes 15 performers and 80 volunteers, some of them linked to various social entities of the Poble-sec and the Col legi del Teatre. This is the daring visual proposal of the FC Bergman collective, grafted from thriller, Roy Andersson and Lars von Trier: an imaginary between crime and Catholicism that questions the idea of community and the fallacy of having control of our lives. The show deals with hidden desires, the search for the meaning of life, the beauty of human failure and, finally, hope in survival, framed in the biblical measures of Noah’s ark that give title to the show.
