Marilia Samper is bringing to the stage the 2013 Obie winner for Playwriting and the 2014 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Flick, by the American playwright Annie Baker. It is a comical drama that takes place in an old analogical movie palace.

In a shabby movie palace in some town in Massachusetts that digital cinema has not yet reached, Sam, Rose and Avery earn just above minimum wage by selling tickets, cleaning the theatre and operating the 35-mm projector. The economy is depressed, and so are they. Despite their frustrated ambitions, they try to survive in the sorry decline of their surroundings. Amidst the empty theatre aisles, they share minor battles and not so minor misadventures in love, life stories that are more appealing than the vulgar old films on the screen.

Plawrights Horizons, Inc., New York City, commissioned and produced the World Premiere of The Flick Off-Broadway in 2013. El cine is presented by Special Arrangement with United Talent Agency.
