Description

The playwright and director Victoria Szpunberg is bringing her latest text to the stage, a piece which asks what is ethically appropriate when one lives within a suffocating system.

An associate professor in the Faculty of Philosophy with no chance of renting a home in Barcelona or securing a place at the university, who was just separated, begins to suffer from strange fainting spells. The city seems to want to expel her, and all her knowledge, her philosophical discipline, ethics, falls into crisis. What should her rules of behaviour be in an increasingly hostile system? Her encounters with a series of men (all played by the same actor) feed an obscure desire for revenge growing inside her. The most famous expression of the Lex Talionis, ‘an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth’, will seem like a joke next to everything the ethics professor begins to imagine.
