The plaes in which we live are not neutral: the architecture and the definition of the city have been an effective tool in the empowerment of certain social sectors to the detriment of others. Històries de la cuina is a performative piece in which, through musical improvisation, various realities become visible and public around the domestic care of the neighborhood of Poble-sec. The privatization of daily care, especially those that take place at home, has made its economic and social value precarious, as well as the bodies that give them. Històries de la cuina reflects on the construction of social roles through an urban scenic device activated by members of Més que cures, an association that groups women from the neighborhood of Poble-sec dedicated to home care. This performative piece is presented on Saturday 5 October at 13.00 p.m. at the Plaça Margarida Xirgu, and this is the proposal in the public space of the Teatre Lliure in the fourth edition of Viu Montjuïc, held that weekend.

In addition, the project establishes that the kitchen can be used beyond the day of perfomance. It will be kept at the Teatre Lliure, managed by the Fundació Mescladís (current managers of the restaurants of the Teatre Lliure) and used by members of Més que cures, mostly in activities of social dynamism, some of them organized by the Centre Cívic del Sortidor in the district of Poble-sec.

This show is part of Unlock The City , a cultural regeneration project aimed at developing an integrated working method that combines scientific and design-oriented technical research with theatrical practice, making it a tool to trigger sustainable development processes to the post-pandemic city.
