Description

Yerma is back, the first production wholly by the Teatre Lliure of a Federico García Lorca piece, which premiered last season. It is a theatrical poem on motherhood featuring María Hervás, with a set by Frederic Amat and music by Raül Refree.

Yerma is the main character who lends her name to one of Federico García Lorca’s most applauded plays. It is a tragic poem in three acts that shows the inner conflict of a woman who cannot have children. She experiences this frustration in a setting in which motherhood is essential for a married woman, whose main responsibilities are her home and children. And inside, her maternal instinct struggles against the repression and obligation imposed upon her.
