Emma Arquillué and Pablo Macho Otero present the myth of the first actor in history. An identity and social epic 100% fiction.

Prosopopeya is a new myth, a new epic in verse that reflects on the fictitious essence of existence by creating an allegory of the origin of theatre. It’s a myth about the birth of the person (the ‘mask’) that tells the story of Prosopon of Thea, he of the mirror gaze, the first actor in history. It’s a show that blends ancestral forms of theatre like rhyming, music and masks with new currents of thinking about the self and the performativity of existence.
We are in a social and artistic context in which personal identity is in the public eye, where concepts like gender identity, sexual identity, racial and ethnic identity are constantly being foregrounded. In this context when we tend to label ourselves by what makes us stand out from the crowd or what unites us with minority groups, in this show we find it interesting to take a bit of perspective and try to take the matter in the opposite direction: towards what we have in common.
