Magda Puig Torres is the resident artist this season. She and Andreu Martínez explore the concept of thauma, which means surprise and wonder, and which Aristotle considered the origin of knowledge and philosophy.

We live in a world full of answers, but with fewer and fewer questions. To be surprised is precisely that, to ask questions. In fact Aristotle considered the thauma (the astonishment) as the origin of knowledge. The surprise is that radical state of strangeness and disbelief before what surrounds us, and makes us inquire about a world that we believe to know perfectly.

Thauma is a journey through a stunned head.
It works as a poetic game in which you mix up and down, background and figure, the big and the small, creating different ways of seeing the same.
It follows the codes of the graphic novel and the theatre of objects proposes a landscape that opens, revealing its interior.
Thauma is a scenic poem focused on the ability to amaze us and stay suspended in a poetic terrain that has no finality, no conclusion, no closure.

The residence of Magda Puig Torres is mentored by the Greek stage director Dimitris Papaioannou. This support is part of the international mentoring program of the Institut Ramon Llull.

The Carlota Soldevila grants are possible thanks to the partnership with the Fundació Banc Sabadell.
